Although
what I am going to tell you is not a technical, instrument or material as such,
but rather an interesting and small (but powerful) pharmaceutical weapon. First
I will tell you about the microRNA (miRNA), these are small nucleotide
sequences of non-coding RNA, that is, they do not synthesize proteins. Before,
the scientists did not know very well the functions that these small fragments
had in our organism, today it is known that they act as small machines for the
regulation of gene expression, that is, they regulate the synthesis of proteins
in cells.
Thanks to
the study and new discoveries about these RNAs, the usefulness of these
sequences in new gene therapies is being analyzed and evaluated to cure
diseases caused by the abnormal expression of certain genes (such as viral,
carcinogenic or other diseases).
It is of
high importance in my career because it implies a compromising future in areas
of research.
I chose
this topic because it is something new, interesting and above all, it is
something very curious for me.
I learned
about this topic not long ago. It was in a couple of months ago, when the
teacher told us about these sequences and their pharmaceutical utility.
It has a
great impact in the field of health. Since it could be used to cure or treat
diseases that today have no cure.
This topic is very interesting, but I things that this tools, for the pharmaceutical world have a big impediment for the development of this type drugs
